Welcome to this page! This site was set up to show pictures of my hometown: Pecs, Hungary. I like to take photos of this beautiful city, famous for its rich cultural history, monuments and values of today.

To name a few things associated with Pécs, I would mention the ancient Christian monuments dating back to the 4th century A.D. (honored by the World Heritage List, UNESCO), the memory of the first university in Hungary (1367), the largest territory surrounded by town walls in Central-Europe (middle ages), the northernmost Turkish mosque (16th century), the first public library in Hungary (1774), top ceramic brand Zsolnay. Based on these and the current cultural potential of the place, Pecs is a candidate for the "Cultural Capital of Europe, 2010" title.

The city is honored to host many tourists throughout the year, with the yearly highlights of the Film Festival (February), National Theatrical Festival (June), Summer Festival, ICWIP (July), Autumn Festival Days. Recent memorable international events were the Taizé Meeting (1989), visit of Pope John Paul II (1991), Jeux Sans Frontières Games (1994), 3th CIOFF Folkloriada (2004) with audiences of (tens, hundreds of) thousands.

Well, between the festivals we just live our lives. I would like to show the sights worth a visit, nuisances that would be better not to show at all, anything that just gets into focus of my camera. With the disclaimer: these photos are not professional by any means.
